Frank Frederico – “Colours are the children of light”

I met Frank Frederico a number of years ago at a plein air paint-out in New Mexico with a few other people (including Bill Creevy and my friend Stephanie Birdsall).

At the most recent IAPS (International Association of Pastel Societies) convention I asked Frank to talk about his statement, “Colours are the children of light.” Here’s what he had to say:

Frank loves to use colour, there’s no doubt about it. On that first meeting, he handed me a piece of paper – it was covered with bright yellow paint. “Use this and see what happens,” he said….and I did…and loved it. One day I’ll come across the piece and post it. In the meantime, here’s one of Frank’s pastels – glorious colour!!!

Let me know what you think about the video and what Frank Frederico had to say.

Thanks for reading,

UPDATE: Sadly, Frank Frederico passed away 30 July 2018 at the age of 90. I’ll miss him… His website no longer exists but here are a few examples of his pastels.
